New motor concepts with bonding varnish (Backlack)

Challenge

The customer, an e-mobility start-up with a new drive and platform concept with electric motors in the wheel or centrally, is looking for a partner to produce the highly innovative lamination stacks. The motor will set new standards in terms of materials used, weight, and power density.

Approach

SWD understands the customer’s needs precisely and creates a concept for fully automatically produced lamination stacks. Individual segments are layered and bonded into a full circle stator. In a further step, two stators are combined. SWD is very familiar with the highly complex production steps and has already implemented similar production processes based on segmentation and the bonding of full circle stators.

Success

The prototype phase of the first motor size has been successfully completed. Production is still carried out manually. The customer is impressed with the stator stacks. Now comes the next level of automation and SWD is further developing the automated DKS® process and making it suitable for series production. The innovative motor and our innovative production concept set new standards. There’s going to be a whole new production line. Stay tuned!
