SWD technology in the “Truck of the Year 2026”

The new-generation DAF Trucks XD Electric and XF Electric have been named “International Truck of the Year 2026.” These outstanding, pioneering and unparalleled trucks impress with the highest safety standards, remarkable efficiency and first-class driver comfort. As award-winning models, they set new benchmarks in design, performance and everyday usability. The innovative SWD technology in the stator and rotor laminations plays a key role in this success, ensuring market-leading reliability, impressive power density and outstanding energy efficiency.

These award-winning trucks stand out for their safety, efficiency and driver comfort. The jury, consisting of 23 leading commercial vehicle journalists from across Europe, praised the DAF XD Electric and XF Electric series for their exceptional energy efficiency, their sophisticated yet powerful drivetrain and their advanced technical architecture. In addition, the award-winning vehicles were recognised for their long range, the advantageous LFP battery technology and their superior driver comfort.
Florian Engel, Chairman of the “International Truck of the Year” jury, commented:
“During extensive test drives, the jury members praised the XD Electric and XF Electric for their refined drivetrains and the almost imperceptible gear shifting.”

Drive train with Backlack and SWD EPS® technology

SWD AG played a key role in developing the drive train, namely the stator and rotor packages. From the first prototypes to the start of series production to a fully linked EPS® baking system. In combination with an Andritz/Schuler punching press, baked stator and rotor stacks are produced fully automatically. The advantages of Backlack for these large stacks come into their own.

SWD logistics partner goes electric

Our long-standing logistics partner Fasler Densbüren has recently started operating this very electric truck in its daily logistics activities – with very positive results. Managing Director Christoph Fasler reports:

“Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of collecting our new electric truck and have been on the road with it ever since. I’m absolutely delighted and wouldn’t want to drive anything else. It’s an almost silent and very smooth driving experience.”

The necessary infrastructure has already been established. An electric charging station with two 300 kW charging points has been installed on site to reliably charge the truck.

This step is another important contribution by Fasler Densbüren to reducing our CO2 emissions and designing sustainable transport logistics.
